Job Summary

Build and operate a personalized recommendation system for an interactive, in-product learning experience. Evolve the existing recommender from rule-based logic into increasingly personalized, continuously improving models driven by real-time behavior, metadata, and experimentation. Own model development, training/serving, monitoring, offline/online evaluation, and incremental shipping—while partnering with software engineers, data analysts, and product analytics to productionize and measure impact.

Key Responsibilities

•Evolve the Interactive Learning Plugin’s recommendation system, improving candidate selection, ranking, sequencing, and next-best-action recommendations.
•Develop, validate, version, monitor, and iterate on applied models used by the recommendation system.
•Own model training and serving for a real-time recommendation service.
•Define recommendation quality through offline, online, and longitudinal measures, including feature pipelines and monitoring.
•Partner with software engineers, data analysts, and product analytics to productionize models, set metrics/instrumentation, and integrate measurable improvements incrementally.

Key Requirements

•Built recommendation, ranking, search, matching, propensity, or next-best-action systems, and can start with explainable approaches when appropriate.
•Experience with HTTP/gRPC, streaming, and Go/TypeScript in distributed systems.
•Personally built, validated, monitored, and iterated on models used in a product or operational environment, working in version-controlled codebases with engineers.
•Define and measure recommendation quality using offline, online, and longitudinal evaluation approaches.
•Translate ambiguous objectives into a sequence of models and experiments to steadily improve the product, communicating clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
