Key Responsibilities

  • •Support the development and establishment of an integrated Transmission and Distribution planning function and deliver coordinated weekly and day-ahead plans to the Control Room.
  • •Coordinate effective planning interfaces across system users and work closely with the National Grid Electricity System Operator (NESO) to optimize system access and security of supplies.
  • •Contribute to customer service within the planning function by proactively and reactively responding to customer requirements and supporting KPI achievement.
  • •Assist the Control Room with safe and effective execution of planned system outages, which may require working a shift rota.
  • •Maintain high technical standards for operational outage planning for the Transmission network to help ensure the network remains safe and secure.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures, and operational practices with a commitment to high standards of customer service.
  • •Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, network/business data management systems, and relevant regulatory requirements and documentation.
  • •Ability to develop effective solutions to complex operational challenges and apply excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • •Expert knowledge of System Security Standards and their interaction with system capability requirements, with broad operational experience across electricity networks (Distribution/Transmission); generation knowledge desirable.
  • •Experience using PowerOn and PI systems, including load flow studies and contingency analysis, plus strong IT skills (Microsoft Office applications) and an engineering degree or HNC.
