Key Responsibilities

  • •Run end-to-end multi-state (US) and multi-province (Canada) payrolls on- and off-cycle to deadline.
  • •Ensure accurate earnings, deductions, taxes, benefits, garnishments, and statutory pay; resolve employee and stakeholder queries and escalations.
  • •Own year-end and regulatory filings (W-2, T4/RL-1) and reconcile payroll to the general ledger.
  • •Support system implementation by configuring, testing (parallel runs), validating, and documenting pay rules, earning/deduction codes, and integrations.
  • •Ensure compliance with US and Canadian payroll legislation and statutory accuracy; support audits and SOX-style payroll controls; produce reporting and drive automation/process improvement.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years’ payroll experience covering both US (multi-state) and Canada (multi-province) payroll.
  • •Demonstrable in-house payroll experience running payroll internally (not solely outsourced).
  • •Hands-on payroll system implementation/migration experience on a modern cloud-based payroll/HCM platform, including configuration, parallel testing, data migration, and cutover.
  • •Strong working knowledge of US and Canadian payroll legislation, tax, and statutory requirements.
  • •Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with payroll/HRIS data and system integrations; payroll certification preferred (CPP and/or PCP/PLP).
