Key Responsibilities

  • •Travel to live production farms to assist with weighing, blood-pulling, sampling, placement, and vaccination of pullets and chicks.
  • •Set up weighing pens, move birds to an electronic scale, and record weights and uniformity numbers according to a predetermined schedule.
  • •Pull blood samples and label samples/serum vials for shipment to the laboratory for required testing.
  • •Assist with placement of chicks into pullet houses and support vaccination setup using required equipment (including backpack sprayer use).
  • •Assist with contract crews’ vaccination/moving tasks as needed, perform basic repairs to equipment, and perform additional duties as assigned.

Key Requirements

  • •Valid Alabama Driver License with a good driving record to operate a company vehicle.
  • •At least 6 months of machine operator experience (can be combined across employers).
  • •6 months of continuous work experience with one employer within the last 24 months.
  • •Basic reading and writing skills to accurately record bird weights and uniformity numbers and to label blood samples.
  • •Ability to set up/transport equipment and safely handle materials, including wearing required PPE and working in extreme weather and dusty/non-toxic areas.
