Job Summary

Build and expand Supabase Lite, a lightweight, TypeScript-native Supabase implementation that runs interchangeably on SQLite and Postgres. You’ll grow client API compatibility with hosted Supabase via conformance tests, bring more of the stack to SQLite, and harden the upgrade path to full Supabase. Own the developer experience end to end—CLI, local tooling, and docs—while collaborating with design partners and contributing to the open-source community.

Key Responsibilities

•Grow API compatibility with the Supabase client to match hosted Supabase behavior using conformance tests.
•Bring more of the Supabase stack to SQLite.
•Build and harden the upgrade path from Supabase Lite to full Supabase.
•Own the developer experience end to end, including the CLI, local tooling, and docs.
•Work on the hosted offering and collaborate with design partners to reduce migration and integration friction.

Key Requirements

•Substantial backend or full-stack experience with strong TypeScript fluency, and experience building or contributing to backend systems, frameworks, or developer platforms.
•Strong generalist who can move across the stack (API design, storage internals, infrastructure) and pick up whatever the problem requires.
•Ability to read unfamiliar code and match behavior in TypeScript by studying reference implementations in other languages (e.g., Go and Haskell).
•Solid grounding in SQL and relational databases, with curiosity about differences between Postgres and SQLite.
•Bias toward compatibility and correctness, using tests and specs to prove behavior.
