Job Summary

Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors to secure and protect right of way for operating facilities. Build relationships with landowners, negotiate land rights and monetary settlements, and resolve land-owner disputes. Maintain accurate right-of-way records and research courthouse/property information to support authorization. Prepare plats and right-of-way documents, analyze related legal instruments for compliance, and partner with legal teams on litigation issues while mentoring other right-of-way employees.

Key Responsibilities

•Observe, evaluate, coordinate, and oversee third-party contractors on operating facilities to assure right of way and compliance with regulations and standards.
•Manage relationships with landowners and negotiate to obtain land rights from property owners, attorneys, agents, and public bodies.
•Resolve and diffuse landowner disputes and critical complaints, including negotiating monetary settlements.
•Research legal ownership and prepare right-of-way documents (plats and letters of restrictions) based on property descriptions, signatures, and ownership details.
•Maintain right-of-way records for compliance, analyze related easements/leases/licenses/permits/contracts, support legal teams on litigation, and mentor lower-level right-of-way employees.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Business, Real Estate, Engineering or related field and three years of right of way experience (or equivalent).
•Excellent verbal and written skills to persuade and influence internal and external stakeholders on easement/land rights and contractual issues.
•Advanced negotiation skills to handle landowner discussions, disputes, and monetary settlements.
•Working knowledge of business computer applications to create standardized documents, reports, or graphs.
•Valid driver's license and ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments with occasional physical activities such as bending and lifting.
