Key Responsibilities

  • •Act as each account’s de facto CTO, with final accountability for workload design, operation, and scaling on Baseten.
  • •Translate customer objectives into a shipped solution: frame the problem, define specs and success criteria, build a PoC, and deliver to production.
  • •Design and run evals/benchmarks to isolate quality or performance gaps, then close the gap via inference optimization, post-training improvements, or eval rework.
  • •Respond to mission-critical failures by triaging, owning fixes or routing to the owning team, and staying accountable until resolved.
  • •Build internal tooling and automation to accelerate engagements (eval/deployment infrastructure and reference implementations) and feed customer needs into the product roadmap and Baseten codebase.

Key Requirements

  • •1-2 years of software engineering experience shipping and maintaining code in large production systems, with breadth across the stack.
  • •Experience debugging complex production issues using logs, metrics, and traces to root-cause problems in unfamiliar systems.
  • •Confidence owning ambiguous technical problems, including triage and making decisions under uncertainty with the right engineers.
  • •Clear communication on complex technical topics with both customer engineers and leadership.
  • •Genuine curiosity about AI inference and training and a drive to become an expert in the infrastructure powering it, including willingness to participate in on-call.
