Key Responsibilities

  • •Set the overall direction for the financial regulatory legal team across LATAM and Canada and lead/develop the team.
  • •Provide strategic regulatory legal advice to senior management and influence business strategy and decision-making.
  • •Anticipate regulatory/legal risks and design strategies to manage them through compliance risk assessments and creative solutions.
  • •Coordinate and supervise financial regulatory legal work across the Americas (excluding the U.S.), with direct advisory support for Mexico operations.
  • •Maintain relationships with LATAM regulators and support corporate governance and AML/CTF compliance in partnership with Compliance and Risk Management.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years of relevant experience and a Juris Doctorate (or equivalent education/experience).
  • •Admitted to practice law in Mexico.
  • •Deep financial services regulatory and contract negotiation expertise, with payments-law focus including the Mexican Fintech Law.
  • •Experience engaging with regulators such as CNBV and BANXICO in LATAM.
  • •Exceptional writing and communication skills, including presenting regulations to non-experts.
