Lead the environment modeling team for an upcoming feature film, supervising creation of 3D environments, sets, and props that match the Production Designer’s vision and visual style. Run modeling reviews, provide constructive feedback on design fidelity and quality, and ensure models meet technical pipeline standards for Layout, Surfacing, FX, CFX, and Lighting. Partner across departments, mentor modelers, and help plan asset complexity and progress within a respectful team culture.

Key Responsibilities

•Supervise the creation of 3D environments, sets, and props aligned to the Production Designer’s and Art Director’s vision and show visual style.
•Interpret design intent (scale and level of detail), and ensure consistency across the film’s world with support from the Head of Environments.
•Lead environment modeling reviews and provide clear, constructive feedback on fidelity, silhouette, proportion, structure, and overall quality.
•Ensure environment models meet technical requirements and pipeline standards for integration with Layout, Surfacing, FX, CFX, and Lighting.
•Mentor and support environment modelers by identifying training needs and contributing to performance feedback while collaborating across departments.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 167,000 - 212,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Significant experience as an Environment/Set/Prop Modeler in feature animation, VFX, or high-end games/series, including time in a Lead or Supervisory role.
•A strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in environment and prop modeling with clear understanding of design, form, scale, and composition.
•Proficiency with 3D modeling tools such as Maya and sculpting tools such as ZBrush or Mudbox; procedural/vegetation tools (e.g., Houdini, SpeedTree) are a plus.
•Strong understanding of how environments interact with Layout, Surfacing, FX, CFX, and Lighting within a production pipeline.
•Great communication and leadership skills, with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
