Job Summary

Senior Software Engineer to build and scale the backend for David Energy's energy systems platform, including a software-native power plant and automated trading desk. You’ll own API and data layer development, collaborate with risk/data teams, design scalable, highly available services, and help shape architecture to support 10x growth while improving security and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and maintain the backend systems of our platform, including APIs, databases, and third-party integrations.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and tools.
•Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our systems.
•Make architecture decisions that scale to 10x current usage, and collaborate directly with our Risk & Data organization.
•Contribute to building the software-native power plant and automated trading desk infrastructure.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 170,000 - 230,000 annually

Key Requirements

•5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on backend engineering.
•Demonstrated excellence in at least one back-end web framework (e.g., Flask, Django, Ruby on Rails, etc), cloud service (e.g. AWS, GCP), and RDBMS (e.g. PostgreSQL). Note: we use Flask/Python, AWS, and Postgres but we're flexible on what experience you have as long as you're a quick learner.
•Experience designing systems that scale, building resilient, highly available services, and understanding tradeoffs between a sophisticated architecture that works forever and a simple architecture that works today.
•Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
•Curiosity about using AI-based development tooling and other tools to improve engineering effectiveness.
