Key Responsibilities

  • •Negotiate enterprise customer agreements, data-licensing deals, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements from start to finish.
  • •Serve as the legal partner sales and BD want in the room while deals are live.
  • •Advise product and engineering on data access, privacy, AI, intellectual property, and related regulatory questions.
  • •Handle novel, higher-risk matters such as AI output ownership, permissioning, and non-standard licensing structures.
  • •Build contracting processes, templates, playbooks, and approval thresholds, implement policies/compliance programs, and manage outside counsel when needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Have negotiated real technology agreements, including across-the-table negotiation with a counterparty’s counsel.
  • •Own matters independently with minimal supervision; the GC provides direction, not a plan.
  • •Know when to escalate to the GC or founder, using strong judgment on unclear calls.
  • •Provide business advice and risk guidance teams can act on, not just legal cover or exhaustive memos.
  • •Maintain good standing in at least one U.S. state bar (preferred: a J.D.).
