Job Summary

Perform structural engineering work for complex long-span bridge projects, including inspections, research, and evaluations to ensure compliance with applicable codes and permits. Develop construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and safety/phasing plans while coordinating with owners, disciplines, and clients. Lead structural analysis, design, and detailed reviews for complex bridges, using advanced structural modeling and finite element tools. Provide QC/QA oversight and communicate technical findings through reports and presentations.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform structural engineering work and conduct research and inspections of site conditions to determine conformance with rules, standards, and permits.
•Develop construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction safety/phasing plans in coordination with owners and other disciplines.
•Perform structural analysis, design, checking, and reviews for complex bridges, and train others in the same.
•Develop or incorporate advanced modeling techniques and concept development to ensure safety and functionality for end-users and transportation systems.
•Provide close coordination with cross-functional teams and deliver QC/QA reviews; produce technical reports and presentations explaining findings and recommendations.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or closely related).
•Over 5 years of relevant post-education experience with prior bridge design; Master’s/Ph.D. considered in lieu of experience.
•Professional Engineer (PE) license required (multi-state preferred).
•Extensive experience with structural modeling and design, including linear/non-linear static, dynamic time history, and finite element modeling using industry tools (e.g., Larsa 4D, MIDAS, SOFiSTiK, ANSYS, ADINA, CSiBridge, STAAD, Bentley Open Bridge, MDX).
•Highly proficient in technical writing and discipline-specific design software, with strong understanding of engineering principles, math, physics, and predictive models.
