Job Summary

Assist the paving crew on road and highway construction projects by shoveling, raking, compacting materials, and leveling asphalt areas. Load, unload, clean, and transport tools, equipment, and materials across the job site while following directions from foremen and managers. Work near active traffic lanes, maintain strict safety practices and OSHA/MSHA compliance, and be available for travel to multiple sites within your region, including evenings and weekends when needed.

Key Responsibilities

•Shovel, rake, and compact materials on road construction projects, including leveling asphalt as directed.
•Walk alongside the paver and assist with daily tasks and expectations for the assigned project site.
•Load, unload, clean, and maintain tools and equipment, and move/deliver materials and equipment throughout the job site.
•Work safely near traveled roadways and live traffic lanes while following OSHA and MSHA regulations and procedures, including PPE requirements.
•Assist team members across different areas of the road project and be available to travel/work at multiple construction sites within your geographic region.

Key Requirements

•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs regularly, and perform physically demanding motions (lifting, bending, walking, standing, reaching, squatting).
•Comfort working with a shovel or rake for extended periods and pushing/pulling an asphalt rake.
•Ability to climb on and off equipment regularly and operate equipment controls (directional/speed/operational controls).
•Valid driver’s license is required.
•Must follow OSHA and/or MSHA safety procedures and wear required PPE.
