Job Summary

Support major transmission infrastructure projects by designing and analysing overhead transmission line structures, including steel lattice towers and monopoles, from 33kV to 400kV. Deliver work in line with South African and international standards (Eskom, SANS, IEC 60826, BS EN 50341, Eurocodes), perform structural assessments, and prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and documentation. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and support tendering and client/regulatory submissions across South Africa and the UK.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and analyze transmission line structures including steel lattice towers and monopoles.
•Deliver designs according to South African and international standards (Eskom, SANS, IEC 60826, BS EN 50341, Eurocodes).
•Conduct structural assessments and develop reinforcement or replacement solutions for existing infrastructure.
•Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and engineering documentation for client and regulatory submissions.
•Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support tendering/procurement with cost estimation input and stakeholder liaison.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
•Experience in structural design of transmission line structures.
•Proficiency in PLS-CADD, TOWER, STAAD.Pro and SAP2000.
•Strong understanding of wind loading, conductor tensioning, and foundation interaction.
•Professional registration with ECSA or active progression towards registration.
