Job Summary

Own structural composites and bonded-structure materials expertise across multiple programs, generating material allowables from mechanical test data and authoring/maintaining composite material and process specifications. •Author and maintain material and process specifications for composite and ancillary materials, building the composite material toolbox.
•Design and execute statistically driven test plans and characterization campaigns (coupon through component level).
•Support transitions from thermoset to thermoplastic composite processes for high-rate production and provide materials/process guidance to design and manufacturing teams.
•Lead failure analyses and root-cause corrective actions; support lab, supplier qualification, QA specification compliance, and process audits while documenting and presenting results.

Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Science, Composites Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
•5-7 years of composite materials and process engineering experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or related industries.
•Strong understanding of composite material systems including thermoset and thermoplastic matrices with continuous/discontinuous fiber reinforcement.
•Hands-on experience with composite manufacturing processes (e.g., prepreg layup, autoclave/out-of-autoclave cure, RTM, heated press molding, stamp forming, filament winding).
•Ability to generate material properties via mechanical testing per ASTM standards and develop design allowables, plus strong technical writing skills.
