Key Responsibilities

  • •Act as the principal legal advisor on EU, Member State, and UK sanctions laws and regulations, providing risk-based guidance to business stakeholders.
  • •Advise on complex higher-risk transactions, including ownership and control analyses, asset-freeze restrictions, sectoral measures, and circumvention and contractual protections.
  • •Lead legal support for sanctions licensing, notifications, disclosures, and submissions to the UK Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation and relevant EU authorities.
  • •Monitor and interpret sanctions legislation, guidance, designations, enforcement actions, and policy developments; implement required controls and communications.
  • •Develop and enhance sanctions governance, policies, procedures, screening and escalation protocols, recordkeeping, and digital controls; support investigations, audits, training, and regulator engagement.

Key Requirements

  • •Juris Doctor (JD).
  • •Minimum 6 years’ experience in a law department, preferably in a multinational company, law firm or government agency.
  • •Significant experience in European trade regulations, including U.S. sanctions regulations.
  • •Knowledge of compliance IT and digital systems, including ERP software systems (e.g., SAP, GTS, Salesforce).
  • •Excellent communication skills and strong integrity, compliance, and ethics.
