Key Responsibilities

  • •Bid and estimate roadway construction projects, including quantity takeoff, cost/overhead/markup build-up, and bid submissions/openings across DOT/CAA/FAA/municipal/private work.
  • •Review potential bids with management, secure SBE/DBE and subcontractors/vendors, and prepare bid comparisons and market analysis.
  • •Build and set up projects in bidding software and manage the “Bid vs. Build” process with Operations to reduce bid vs. build spread.
  • •Manage project execution by tracking schedules (recovery/critical path/liability/capacity), quantities, risks, opportunities, and margin/cost controls.
  • •Perform safety-related site activities such as site visits, risk assessment, and toolbox talks, and conduct weekly/monthly sales meetings and competitor backlog/capacity analysis.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field plus 4+ years of construction estimating/project management experience (preferably civil DOT paving) OR 8+ years in related fields.
  • •Understand milling/paving and DOT construction and be able to manage Civil/DOT projects from bid to completion.
  • •Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and project financials to forecast outcomes.
  • •Proficient estimating: accurate project cost/quantity calculations, meticulous plan/spec review, and bid comparison/market analysis.
  • •Willingness to travel throughout Connecticut and a valid driver’s license; professional communication with clients, subcontractors, and teams.
