Lead and grow the product legal function in a high-growth live shopping marketplace. As a player-coach, partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Policy, and Business Development to advise on privacy, consumer protection, advertising/marketing claims, payments and platform policy, and regulatory risk. Build scalable legal processes—playbooks, templates, and risk frameworks—so product teams can launch and iterate quickly with clear, actionable guidance.

Key Responsibilities

•Build and lead the product counsel function, partnering with the Deputy General Counsel to shape strategy, structure, and priorities while managing a small team.
•Embed across the product development lifecycle to advise Product, Engineering, Design, and Trust & Safety from concept through release and post-launch iteration.
•Identify, assess, and drive resolution of legal issues across privacy, data security, consumer protection, intellectual property, intermediary liability, advertising, and platform regulation.
•Monitor and communicate evolving global regulations (including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, EU Digital Services Act/Markets Act, EU AI Act, COPPA, and FTC rules) and lead cross-functional responses to legal change.
•Develop scalable legal infrastructure—playbooks, templates, risk frameworks, guidance/training, and external counsel management—to turn legal into a force multiplier.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 335,000 - 395,000 annually

Key Requirements

•J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership (or eligibility to register as in-house counsel) in at least one U.S. state.
•12+ years of legal experience, including advising on product and technology matters at a top-tier law firm and an in-house legal department at a technology company.
•Deep expertise in several areas such as privacy/data protection, consumer protection, platform/intermediary liability, intellectual property, advertising/marketing law, content moderation, and AI/ML governance.
•Proven ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal counsel in a high-velocity environment with solutions-focused guidance.
•Experience building or leading a product counsel or technology law function and strong executive communication skills to translate complex legal issues into actionable guidance.
