Job Summary

Lead and support the Global DPO Office in delivering practical, proportionate data protection advice, oversight, and challenge across the bank. Review DPIAs, assess data breaches, and strengthen regulatory reporting and regulator engagement processes. Build trusted relationships across compliance, legal, and the business while helping design scalable governance, processes, and a group risk framework as Monzo grows. Deputise for the DPO from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide practical, proportionate data protection advice, oversight, and challenge across the bank as part of the Global DPO Office.
•Review DPIAs, provide DPO opinions, assess data breaches, and support clear, well-documented regulatory reporting decisions.
•Support relationship management with regulators, improve processes for regulatory engagement and complaints, and oversee data subject rights and contact point processes.
•Support and lead projects within the DPO Office maturity plan, representing the team in cross-bank initiatives where data protection compliance is affected.
•Proactively improve how the DPO Office works, including by using data, automation, AI, and other tools to move faster without lowering standards; deputise for the DPO from time to time.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 71,400 - 90,000

Key Requirements

•Hands-on experience as a data protection professional with strong knowledge of UK GDPR, PECR, and ICO expectations, supported by a relevant qualification such as IAPP or equivalent.
•Hands-on experience across core DPO work, including DPIAs, data breaches, privacy notices, governance, reporting, and regulator-facing activity.
•Strong project and workstream execution skills, turning broad goals into clear plans and delivering improvements with pace and good judgement.
•Curiosity about AI and innovative technology, including using or exploring AI practically in your work.
•Understanding of second-line oversight and the ability to build trusted relationships while providing effective advice, oversight, and challenge.
