Key Responsibilities

  • •Drive delivery of civil and bridge engineering projects, ensuring quality meets time and budget constraints.
  • •Mentor and support junior team members to develop technical skills and project competency.
  • •Lead bridge design, management, and assessments for UK and international projects, including strengthening and repair work.
  • •Prepare documentation, reports, health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, and outline cost estimates; support fee estimation processes.
  • •Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and external clients (HS2, Network Rail, Local Authorities, private clients) to deliver feasible options and robust solutions.

Key Requirements

  • • Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with practical knowledge and experience in bridge design, maintenance and assessment from construction sites and design offices
  • •Experience in project management of bridge projects and a track record of innovation in design and management of structures (new build, maintenance, assessment, strengthening)
  • •Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) related to structural schemes
  • •Understanding and experience of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design; experience of design/assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structures
  • •Experience with grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress and SAM; strong communication and client-handling skills
