Job Summary

Design mechanical systems for wastewater and water infrastructure projects across feasibility, outline, detail, and construction design stages. Develop pumping station designs, perform headloss calculations and pumping system analysis, and specify pumps, screens, grit removal plants, penstocks, valves, odour control systems, and plant/pipework layouts. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and support bids and client deliverables, using BIM, Projectwise, intelligent P&IDs, and in-house tools.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and manage mechanical design for wastewater and water infrastructure/treatment projects, including pumping stations, pump selection, and related system designs.
•Perform headloss calculations and pumping system analysis to support mechanical design decisions.
•Engage in all design stages (feasibility through construction design) while complying with national and international design standards.
•Collaborate with other discipline teams and communicate effectively with clients and collaborators throughout design and planning.
•Contribute to bids and proposals and produce client deliverables such as calculations, drawings, and technical reports.

Key Requirements

•Experience in designing water and wastewater engineering deliverables, ideally including treatment schemes.
•BEng or MEng in a related engineering field with experience in water and wastewater treatment.
•Chartered (or near Chartered) Member of a relevant Professional Institution.
•Experience within the water sector working for a consultancy.
