Key Responsibilities

  • •Own core security initiatives from architecture through production, leading design, planning, and execution for major security components in the Elasticsearch core engine.
  • •Develop foundational security models for complex features and ensure robust data isolation within shared infrastructure.
  • •Optimize security performance at scale in distributed systems environments.
  • •Apply cryptographic solutions to address real customer use cases and maintain best practices in authentication, identity management, cryptography, and data access management.
  • •Collaborate with InfoSec on vulnerability management and leverage AI-driven tools to automate vulnerability triage, prioritization, and preliminary investigation, while mentoring other engineers.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management, including concurrency and writing high-performance, thread-safe, lock-free code across large codebases.
  • •Proven experience designing and building scalable authorization systems, including RBAC/ABAC models and token validation pipelines.
  • •Solid understanding of distributed systems security, including node-to-node mutual trust, zero-trust transport, partition tolerance, and cluster state propagation.
  • •Deep knowledge of edge identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and SAML.
  • •Ability to collaborate across teams and work autonomously, making decisions and driving execution in a distributed environment.
