Job Summary

Join DroneShield’s Embedded - Software Interfaces team to design and evolve high-performance APIs that connect embedded devices to internal and external customers. You’ll build scalable gRPC and REST services optimized for constrained environments, apply API standards for schema, versioning, security, and testing, and collaborate across embedded, firmware, backend, and platform engineers to deliver reliable, maintainable interfaces for device data and sensor workflows.

Key Responsibilities

•Contribute to the design and evolution of embedded device APIs, reducing complexity and improving consistency and scalability.
•Design and implement high-performance APIs optimized for constrained embedded environments to ensure reliability and efficiency.
•Promote API standards including schema design, versioning, security, performance expectations, testing practices, and documentation quality.
•Collaborate with embedded, firmware, backend, and platform engineers to build robust interfaces for device data models, protocols, and sensor workflows.
•Provide technical guidance and contribute to engineering best practices, integration strategies, and high-quality software development processes.

Key Requirements

•5+ years’ experience building backend and API-driven systems, ideally in distributed or high-performance environments.
•Strong API architecture expertise, including schema design, versioning, security, testing strategy, and long-term maintainability.
•Hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable gRPC and REST services.
•Experience designing, improving, and maintaining complex APIs for usability, reliability, and maintainability.
•Solid understanding of microservice patterns and Linux-based environments.
