Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the technical direction for rendering designs into files, including the Chromium-based export pipeline and reliability-focused architecture.
  • •Be the team’s point of contact for the hardest rendering issues such as upgrade breakages, rendering race conditions, and upstream-change production incidents.
  • •Decide how to absorb upstream changes sustainably, including monitoring and testing infrastructure for Chromium regressions.
  • •Set the direction for PDF accessibility and compliance (PDF/UA, WCAG) across exported files, including tagging depth and build/buy decisions.
  • •Drive export reliability and performance at 50M+ weekly downloads, covering format optimization and distributed-systems failure modes.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep experience with Chromium or another browser rendering engine, working inside it (not just around it).
  • •Comfortable in C++ when working within large third-party codebases and able to understand unfamiliar codebases.
  • •Background in rendering pipelines, graphics programming, or print production systems.
  • •Strong Java backend engineering experience, since the product is built on Java.
  • •Have owned a technical domain end to end, setting architecture, making trade-offs, and supporting upstream dependency change.
