Job Summary

Identify, develop, and validate innovative metallurgical solutions for industrially relevant R&T programs (up to TRL 5). Lead breakthrough aluminum product work and efforts to increase recycled content, moving ideas into project definitions and proof of concept. Collaborate in multidisciplinary research teams, partner closely with business units, support patent filings, and contribute to safety and environmental objectives. Communicate results through clear technical reporting.

Key Responsibilities

•Identify opportunities for new R&T projects through discussions with materials specialists, ideation sessions, conferences/trade fairs, and patent searches.
•Translate opportunities into viable projects by defining technical objectives, contributing to preliminary business cases, and creating targeted action plans.
•Drive projects through proof of concept and share learnings via clear, high-quality reporting.
•Support patent filing when possible and relevant.
•Lead by example to ensure work is performed safely and contribute to environmental objectives, including reducing GHG emissions by increasing recycled content.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•Masters-level degree and/or PhD in Materials Science with a focus on metals-related technologies.
•5+ years post-education experience developing metal processing technologies.
•Practical and theoretical knowledge of metal processing technologies, preferably for aluminum-based alloys.
•Knowledge of recycling technologies and/or recyclability of materials.
•Strong digital skills (e.g., data analytics, R or Python) and interest in environmental assessment methodologies and regulations.
