Job Summary

Electrical Overhead Lines Engineer focusing on design of high-voltage transmission projects up to 400kV. You’ll work within the Transmission & Distribution team on OHL design, including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analyses, and conductor/insulator selection, while ensuring safety, standards compliance, and delivering engineering deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and contribute to the design of overhead transmission lines, including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis and loading trees, sag-tension calculations, and conductor/insulator selection.
•Support feasibility studies and conductor thermal ratings, presenting technically preferred solutions to clients.
•Ensure projects meet safety, health, environmental, sustainability, and quality standards.
•Adhere to AECOM and client design management processes throughout the project lifecycle.
•Support engineering deliverables such as complex designs, reports, proposals, presentations, and drawing packages.

Key Requirements

•A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, electrical engineering or power engineering.
•Experience working on electrical design projects for transmission system operators (e.g., National Grid, SSE, SPT) in line with operator standards.
•Project experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to adhere to industry standards and regulations and work within design management processes.
