Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide delegated leadership for marine aquarium operations, including feeding schedules, daily maintenance, water analysis, and animal observations.
  • •Make daily animal observations and report abnormalities or changes in behavior, participating in decision-making and problem solving.
  • •Maintain and oversee aquarium exhibits and ensure team compliance with routine and preventative maintenance programs.
  • •Oversee dietary, disease recognition, fish treatment, and water quality programs, including quarantine, transport, and handling protocols.
  • •Maintain life support systems, troubleshoot abnormalities, manage record keeping, and ensure high-standard marine animal guest interactions and learning experiences.

Key Requirements

  • •PADI Openwater Scuba Certification or equivalent; PADI Divemaster or above desirable.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Marine Science (or related) and/or experience equivalent to 5 years in an aquarium plus at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • •Computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft package.
  • •Strong understanding of animal husbandry practices with emphasis on employee, guest, and animal safety, including quarantine protocols and water quality analysis.
  • •Ability to mentor, coach, and provide direction to junior-level positions.
