Key Responsibilities

•Drive cross-organizational design strategy and translate audience insights into scalable digital experiences aligned with NPR’s public service mission.
•Lead end-to-end product discovery and mobile experience design from opportunity framing and audience research through prototyping, validation, systems design, and launch.
•Direct UX strategy for NPR’s personalization engine overhaul to increase engagement, retention, and trust.
•Champion an evidence-driven design culture using rapid experimentation, audience feedback, and measurable outcomes.
•Build and scale accessible design systems across web, native mobile, and connected audio surfaces, partnering with product, engineering, research, data, and editorial teams.

Key Requirements

•10+ years leading product design strategies and shipping scalable digital products across web and mobile ecosystems.
•2+ years as a Staff, Principal, or equivalent senior individual contributor.
•Native mobile design expertise (iOS and Android) with strong responsive/adaptive UX and mobile design systems.
•Proven ability to design inclusive interfaces that comply with WCAG and web accessibility standards.
•Strong proficiency in design thinking frameworks and agile methodologies, plus low- to high-fidelity prototyping to validate ideas.
