Job Summary

Work as a Harvest Skilled team member in the Kill Floor, performing humane slaughter and deboning prep for hogs. You’ll drive animals from holding pens, assist with stunning and bleeding, skin and eviscerate, and inspect carcasses while trimming contamination. Follow SOPs and JSAs, monitor CCPs under HACCP plans, keep the area clean, and recondition meat that touches unsanitary surfaces. Act as a key on-the-job trainer and safety culture advocate.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform humane slaughter and deboning preparation for hogs, including driving animals to the kill floor and supporting stunning, bleeding, skinning, and evisceration.
•Visually inspect hog carcasses and trim off bruised meat and other visual contamination.
•Keep the work area clean and tidy during production and recondition meat that has touched an unsanitary surface.
•Operate within SOPs and JSAs and monitor CCPs according to the plant’s HACCP plan.
•Act as a key trainer for on-the-job training, promote safety, and help supervisors/lead with safety awareness.

Key Requirements

•6 months work experience with one employer in the last 24 months; worker history must be documented on application or resume.
•Be trained in the humane handling of livestock in accordance with the Humane Slaughter Act.
•Knowledge of hydraulic cutters.
•Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) per the HACCP plan.
•Be willing and able to use knives/knife sharpening equipment and lift up to 50 pounds.
