Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead Block’s US public policy and government relations strategy, advancing priorities that support economic empowerment and product growth
  • •Identify and prioritize legislative and regulatory developments affecting Block’s ecosystem and position the company to influence them early
  • •Translate Block’s purpose into narratives for legislators, regulators, and the public about sellers’ growth, financial inclusion, and innovation
  • •Develop thought leadership content, policy papers, and advocacy materials on financial inclusion and digital finance
  • •Build and maintain relationships with senior policymakers and regulatory agencies (FDIC, CFPB, OCC, FinCEN, SEC, NYDFS, and others)
  • •Partner with legal, compliance, product, and communications teams to align policy strategy with business objectives and manage regulatory risk
  • •Design and execute advocacy strategies including direct engagement and coalition building
  • •Oversee policy materials and executive briefings and support leadership engagement with external stakeholders
  • •Manage a high-performing regional policy team including external advisors and trade associations
  • •Contribute to counsel strategy and company priorities as a member of the Counsel leadership team

Key Requirements

  • •15+ years public policy experience, with preference for experience in the US government and within the financial services and technology sectors
  • •10+ years of experience managing teams of policy professionals, including team budgeting, strategic planning, and career development
  • •Strong background in advocacy and public policy development pertaining to global financial services issues and policies
  • •Strategic thinker with sound political instincts and the ability to identify where Block can have the most meaningful impact
  • •Excellent communicator and coalition-builder capable of engaging across ideological and institutional lines
