Job Summary

Entry-level Fire and Life Safety Engineering role supporting SkillBridge participants. You will assist with research, design, and testing of fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, smoke control, egress) across multiple US offices, gain exposure to code compliance, and contribute to project documentation and commissioning under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

•Research building code, life safety code, and fire code requirements (ICC and NFPA; IBC and NFPA 101).
•Assist in design of fire protection and life safety systems including automatic sprinklers, fire detection/alarms, smoke management, and egress systems.
•Assist in preparing fire engineering calculations including smoke modeling and evacuation analysis (from simple hand calculations to 3D modeling).
•Assist in commissioning of fire alarm, fire suppression, smoke control, and life safety systems.
•Perform routine engineering tasks and provide entry-level technical assistance on code requirements, calculations, and design strategies to develop performance-based solutions.

Key Requirements

•Active-duty service members eligible for SkillBridge with unit commander approval.
•Bachelor or Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (with fire protection focus) and 0 to 1 year of fire protection and life safety experience.
•Strong research and analytical skills; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in a team.
•Proficient in technical writing, basic office software, and willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
•Preferred: Engineer in Training Certification; knowledge of REVIT and AutoCAD; prior internship in fire protection engineering.
