Key Responsibilities

•Overhaul how the platform syncs email and calendars, improving performance and reliability of a long-running sync engine used by millions of emails and events.
•Expand voice agent capabilities within the live conversation layer, including conversational edge cases like voicemail and automated phone-tree detection.
•Enable inbound conversation handling, covering specialized agents, reception layer, and seamless call routing.
•Build native scheduling capabilities inside the product for core calendar scheduling and agent scheduling projects over the next 6–12 months.
•Advance streaming and event infrastructure (Kafka, Redis, pub/sub) that supports the rest of the product.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 140,000 - 210,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Python-focused backend experience; you may have worked with Go, Rust, or TypeScript as well.
•Strong experience with email and calendar platforms, including IMAP, sync protocols, and calendar APIs.
•Experience with real-time and async distributed systems (e.g., WebRTC, WebSockets, queues, streaming) and production incident debugging.
•Hands-on with AI in real-time workflows such as live transcription, voice agents, or in-the-loop AI features.
•Experience with telephony systems (e.g., Twilio), including codecs, retries, and eventual consistency; deep telephony experience is a plus.
