Job Summary

Lead mechanical design delivery for Dyson’s product development by partnering with internal teams and JDM suppliers. Drive requirements management, planning/reporting, design reviews, issue management, and design maturity assessments. Evaluate build and test approaches, guide test planning, and review change/part approvals. Improve design engineering tools and workflows while ensuring designs meet Dyson quality standards, cost, and timeline goals in the Shenzhen office.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive requirements management by contributing to design requirements and ensuring JDM partners interpret and implement them correctly.
•Collaborate with internal teams and JDM to identify dependencies, risks, mitigation strategies, and plan/report progress to stakeholders.
•Oversee JDM mechanical design solutions and integration of electrical parts, leading design reviews and issue management aligned with Dyson quality standards.
•Evaluate build effectiveness and efficiency against requirements, and provide technical guidance for test planning and execution reporting.
•Assess design maturity, review/approve change and part/deviation requests, engage with JDM capabilities, and improve design engineering tools and processes.

Key Requirements

•Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
•Strong understanding of product development methodology, including scoping work and breaking down complex problems into manageable tasks.
•Knowledge of Systems Engineering, Requirements Management, and Risk Management for product development.
•Established track record taking engineering solutions from concept to market launch, including manufacturing and assembly techniques such as injection molding, metal stamping, die-casting, and rubber parts.
•Practical experience with 3D CAD, PLM systems, and analysis packages, plus strong leadership and stakeholder communication in English and Chinese.
