Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the migration of Vanta’s resource data model from a MongoDB-centric solution to a schema-aware Postgres-backed solution while running both in parallel without breaking integrations.
  • •Drive cross-team solutions for dependencies on the Foundations platform you don’t directly own.
  • •Design for correctness under eventual consistency using idempotent handling, conditional writes, reconciliation, and explicit backpressure.
  • •Evolve data ingestion and pipeline architecture for reliable, high-throughput processing of terabyte-scale data streams across distributed systems.
  • •Set architectural direction for streaming infrastructure (Kafka), caching (Redis), and persistent storage (Postgres and MongoDB), and mentor senior engineers through complex systems work.

Key Requirements

  • •Proven track record leading platform migration initiatives while maintaining backward compatibility and system availability.
  • •Strong command of streaming and queuing infrastructure (Kafka or equivalent), including partitioning strategy, consumer group semantics, redelivery, and idempotency.
  • •Deep experience in distributed systems and data pipeline engineering at enterprise scale (terabyte-scale ingestion, high-throughput event processing).
  • •Fluency in relational and document data modeling at scale (Postgres and MongoDB), including query planning, connection pooling, and online schema change.
