Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide specialist general surgery diagnosis, treatment, and care to inpatients, day cases, and outpatients requiring general surgery.
  • •Perform surgical procedures and operations as appropriate, including pre- and post-operative assessment of patients.
  • •Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
  • •Carry out administrative duties associated with patient care, including clinical coding, discharge summaries, letters, and reports.
  • •Comply with clinical governance, infection prevention and control, and occupational safety and health (OSH) requirements, including mandatory training and annual relicensing/recertification.

Key Requirements

  • •Prescribe or administer medication, therapy, and specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • •Gather patient history and discuss procedures, test results, and prescribed treatments.
  • •Perform surgical procedures and provide pre- and post-operative assessment.
  • •At least 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country).
  • •At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
