Job Summary

Perform engineering detail and field support work for electric and gas distribution systems under established procedures. Prepare and close work orders, estimates, budgets, and customer contribution/charge records, and maintain engineering/accounting/rate/store/budget documentation. Conduct field locating, staking, surveying, soil probe tests, permit and easement support, and create maps and sketches from engineering prints. Assist with maintenance work sheets, accident reports, and claim forms.

Key Responsibilities

•Under direction, perform engineering detail and associated tasks both in the office and in the field.
•Prepare and close work orders, material lists, tickets, transfers, and related estimates, budgets, and customer contributions/charges.
•Perform field work such as locating service entrances, staking, locating underground pipe/cable obstructions, moderate-difficulty survey work, and installing location number tags.
•Maintain engineering, accounting, rate, stores, and budget registers/records and assist in preparation of engineering reports (e.g., voltage, gas pressure, load).
•Obtain information from engineering prints to prepare maps and sketches; prepare maintenance work sheets, accident reports, and claim forms.

Key Requirements

•Complete the engineering technician apprenticeship and pass the final position qualification examination.
•2-3 years of experience in engineering or surveying background.
•Associate degree preferred.
