Job Summary

Design and build backend services for the recurring Payin platform, powering automated Direct Debit payments and customer top-ups and collections. You’ll develop REST APIs and payment orchestration across providers, implement event-driven processing with Apache Kafka, and optimize high-volume PostgreSQL schemas and SQL queries. Work with product, design, analytics, and engineers to deliver cross-functional initiatives, maintain quality through automated testing and code reviews, and participate in on-call for Tier 2 services.

•Build and maintain RESTful APIs serving customers across web and mobile platforms.
•Develop and optimize services for the card pay-in payment method.
•Design database schemas and optimize SQL queries against PostgreSQL for high-volume transactional data.
•Implement event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka and maintain payment orchestration across providers; write automated tests and participate in code reviews and on-call.

•Knowledge of Java and Spring Boot and experience with a messaging system such as Kafka (plus relational/non-relational DBs and query optimisation).
