Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead technical delivery of large AI R&D projects across reinforcement learning, NLP/LLMs, knowledge graphs, and AI applications including RF/EW and imagery recognition.
  • •Lead and assure preparation and delivery of technical reports, technical proposals, and supporting materials.
  • •Identify novel research opportunities and direct research activities with potential partnership with UK universities or other parts of BAE Systems.
  • •Present research topics effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including in-house and external customers.
  • •Provide engineering assurance on bids, publications, and project deliverables, and undertake technical mentoring of more junior staff.

Key Requirements

  • •PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • •Circa 10+ years of demonstrable experience in an AI/ML role in industry or academia, preferably in the Defence sector.
  • •Experience leading R&D teams and undertaking engineering assurance activities.
  • •Proposal writing experience.
  • •Experience in one or more domains such as AI/ML for imagery (remote sensing), reinforcement learning, NLP/LLMs, large language models, knowledge graphs, or AI/ML for RF/EW (radar/sonar/acoustics).
