Job Summary

Tube Welders are needed for Savannah, GA-based field work. You will lay out, weld, and assemble piping systems and structural components using multiple welding processes, read blueprints, and ensure welds meet procedural requirements while working on-site for Wood’s energy and materials projects.

Key Responsibilities

•Lays out, aligns and welds fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings and pipe, according to blueprints and metallurgy
•Welds using arc welding equipment in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions and may tack weld assemblies
•Selects type and size of pipe or related materials and equipment according to specifications
•Plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal, and welding techniques
•Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor

Key Requirements

•Capable of certifying on multi-process pipe being proficient in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW welding processes
•Capable of producing welds that will meet NDE (non destructive examination) requirements
•Able to read and interpret blueprints and metallurgy-related specifications
•Selects type and size of pipe or related materials according to specifications
•Plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry and welding techniques
