Job Summary

Design and lead delivery of overhead line engineering projects, including feasibility studies and detailed design of transmission towers for 11kV–400kV circuits. Create engineering calculations, documentation, and bill of quantities, and support tender information and costing. Coordinate with WSP UK teams and PM/PD stakeholders, attend (virtual) site meetings, and manage design reviews, QA, and CDM-compliant sign-offs while mentoring engineers and graduates.

Key Responsibilities

•Design overhead line circuits and transmission towers for 11kV–400kV, delivering feasibility studies and detailed engineering design outputs.
•Produce engineering calculations, engineering documentation, and support preparation of bill of quantities schedules.
•Coordinate with WSP UK teams to assemble design specifications aligned with employer requirements and ensure timely delivery.
•Support project build by attending (virtual) site meetings, managing design drawing changes, and responding to RFIs and contractor queries.
•Lead the design process, conduct QA/technical reviews and sign-off, and mentor engineers and graduates while coaching juniors on document control processes.

Key Requirements

•15+ years’ experience as a Civil & Structural Engineer delivering overhead line circuits for 11kV–400kV.
•Experience managing projects independently, including liaising across disciplines and with clients.
•Preferable experience with international codes such as American and Eurocodes.
•Proficiency with tools including PLS Tower, PLS CADD, Tekla, and STAAD.
•Education in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng/MSc) and fluent English with strong technical terminology.
