Job Summary

Design and integrate custom RF and analog IC layouts for multiple silicon projects supporting Starlink’s space and ground infrastructure. Own technical layout responsibilities including chip floorplanning, power/ground and pad planning, design rule/electrical rule checks, tape-out readiness, and EDA tool trials. Collaborate with RFIC/mixed-signal designers and packaging engineers, and help the team improve layout techniques through guides and demos.

Key Responsibilities

•Determine chip floorplans with power/ground distribution strategies and pad locations in coordination with packaging engineers.
•Estimate layout schedules and identify areas of complexity requiring early investigation.
•Layout custom RF and analog circuit blocks with matching focus and minimizing parasitic capacitance.
•Perform design rule checking, electrical rule checking, and layout-versus-schematic checks to resolve errors.
•Execute top-level layout integration (including ESD structures), run tape-out readiness steps, and share GDS with the foundry.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering and 5+ years of professional experience as an IC layout designer; or 8+ years of IC layout experience in lieu of a degree.
•Strong analog layout skills with experience in advanced-node IC layouts (22nm, 16nm, 7nm, 5nm or below).
•Experience laying out circuits with frequencies up to 50GHz and sensitive RF blocks such as low noise amplifiers, voltage controlled oscillators, and mixers.
•Experience with shell scripting and/or scripting languages such as Perl or Python, and managing revision control systems.
•Working knowledge of Linux and excellent oral and written communication skills; able to work independently on challenging problems.
