Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
  • •Help service members establish spending plans for extended absences.
  • •Develop and provide informational financial materials for service members and families.
  • •Coordinate and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle, including pre- and post-deployment topics.
  • •Use secure virtual counseling/communication modes (when authorized) and manage DoD duty to warn situations; participate in supervision, training, and quality improvement activities.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree required (or associate degree plus 4 years’ experience, or high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience).
  • •3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • •Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
  • •If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • •Must hold one of: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC); be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation and pass the OCI process.
