Key Responsibilities

  • •Participate in designing project-specific single- and multi-phase electromagnetic and/or motor control solutions to meet requirements.
  • •Develop novel high-performance electric motor topologies and construction methods or motor control solutions targeting specifications for cost, size, weight and efficiency.
  • •Use 2D/3D static and transient electromagnetic FEA to model aspects of brushless motor designs.
  • •Develop and use dynamic power system simulation tools in MATLAB/Simulink to assess motor drive performance and support design decisions.
  • •Test, verify, and communicate motor drive design results and project status while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum first degree in electrical/electronic engineering (or equivalent), preferably with a machines and drives bias, supported by project/course work.
  • •Knowledge of electromagnetic machine design theory, including use of 2D/3D static and transient electromagnetic FEA.
  • •Basic system-level dynamic simulation knowledge for power systems and motor drives, preferably using MATLAB/Simulink, with understanding of first-principles electrical and electromagnetic equations.
  • •Basic understanding of permanent magnet motors, including exposure to soft and hard magnetic materials and their use in electrical machines.
  • •Ability to test and verify electric motors (primarily permanent magnet types) and demonstrate strong theoretical reasoning and problem-solving in engineering.
