Job Summary

Maintain cleanliness and order across the museum’s building, main offices, storage areas, and surrounding grounds. Perform daily cleaning tasks including trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, floor care, restroom sanitization, and gallery/art-space upkeep. Support operations with courier work, equipment and surface disinfection, and event setup/breakdown, while working independently and sometimes on weekends and evening events.

Key Responsibilities

•Clean assigned areas throughout the museum building, including offices, storage spaces, galleries, and art spaces.
•Empty trash cans and replace liners; dust surfaces; sweep and mop; vacuum and buffer floors as needed.
•Sanitize and disinfect restrooms and facilities, including phones, wall switches, door handles, desks, chairs, and lounge furniture.
•Handle trash and recycling removal, collecting and taking out waste, and perform seasonal snow removal and sidewalk/terrace cleanup as needed.
•Support operations with courier and delivery runs via MTA, assist with events setup/breakdown, and escort vendors as necessary.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED required.
•Experience doing maintenance work and knowledge of general cleaning methodologies for museum/office spaces.
•Available to work weekends and flexible with schedule needs, including evening events as assigned.
•Able to read and write and understand policy manuals; basic computer skills are a plus.
•Able to lift 50 pounds or more and walk up and down flight of stairs regularly; able to work outdoors for snow/debris and gutter cleaning.
