Key Responsibilities

  • •Own end-to-end over-the-air (OTA) updates across the fleet, including image build/signing, staged rollout, rollback, and delivery to compute modules and CAN-connected controllers.
  • •Build fleet management infrastructure for device identity/provisioning, hierarchical configuration and secrets management, remote access, and accurate live tracking of deployed software.
  • •Create an observability stack for distributed fleets, including on-robot telemetry, metrics, logs, health signals, dashboards, and alerting for early failure detection.
  • •Maintain the OS layer including Yocto-based BSP maintenance, kernel and device tree configuration, system services, and boot/recovery paths with reproducible image builds.
  • •Design and maintain embedded build/release infrastructure for cross-compilation, CI/CD, artifact management, and release pipelines, partnering with firmware, autonomy, and field operations teams.

Key Requirements

  • •Strong computer science fundamentals and systems fluency with experience in embedded Linux, infrastructure, or robotics platform engineering (5+ years).
  • •Proficiency in Rust, C/C++, and Python, with Linux systems programming skills including networking, IPC, process management, systemd, and device drivers.
  • •Experience building or operating embedded Linux distributions using Yocto/OpenEmbedded, Buildroot, or a custom BSP, including kernel and device tree work.
  • •Hands-on experience with OTA update systems (Mender, RAUC, SWUpdate, OSTree, balena, or equivalent), including A/B partitioning, atomic updates, and rollback.
  • •Experience managing fleets at scale, including provisioning, remote configuration, secrets distribution, and remote access for intermittently connected devices.
