Key Responsibilities

  • •Grade and sort incoming metal products based on appearance and quality for correct processing and usage.
  • •Perform general yard cleanup and maintenance, including digging, sweeping, weed/brush maintenance, and blacktop repaid.
  • •Do basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.
  • •Grease and complete general cleanup at the shear and/or shredder.
  • •Assist with repairs/maintenance as required at the railroad and provide backup support throughout the yard as assigned, reporting equipment deficiencies to the proper supervisor.

Key Requirements

  • •Ability to frequently walk on uneven ground and perform physical tasks including crouching, bending, reaching, climbing, twisting, pushing/pulling, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • •Visual acuity for close detail work and ability to hear and communicate by speech for safety.
  • •Strictly adhere to Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • •Ability to speak and understand English at a basic level, and carry out written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • •Valid driver’s license and ability to drive an automobile (scrap yard experience preferred).
