Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead The Times’ social presence across main accounts, ensuring coverage of breaking news and live events.
  • •Conceive and execute innovative social plans for enterprise projects, leveraging off-platform video, photography, and graphics.
  • •Develop and refine the voice of The Times across off-platform channels with strong news judgment and audience-sensitive framing.
  • •Collaborate with reporters and editors to integrate readers’ voices into journalism pre- and post-publication, including workshops on on-platform framing informed by off-platform performance.
  • •Track success using engagement rates, growth statistics, and other metrics, interpreting data to determine what performs for which audiences.

Key Requirements

  • •Proven experience in social media and digital journalism
  • •Deep understanding of mainstream and some emerging social channels
  • •Consistent record running Facebook, Twitter/X and Instagram accounts for major media outlets
  • •Strong editorial judgment with comfort experimenting to optimize article-sharing for social audiences
  • •Strong writing and editing skills, plus familiarity with Times style (or ability to learn quickly)
