Key Responsibilities

  • •Own Zinc’s commercial contracts function end-to-end, including new business agreements, renewals, and amendments.
  • •Lead UK GDPR and data privacy work, including data processing agreements, DPIAs, advising on subject rights, and guiding the product team.
  • •Oversee contract management infrastructure, transforming the contract book into a living, searchable, data-rich asset.
  • •Manage and lead a legal team of 5+ specialists, maintaining quality, capacity, and morale under a lean headcount model.
  • •Partner with Compliance and InfoSec on Trust Framework and SOC 2, and own governance and deployment of AI across legal systems.

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years PQE (or equivalent) with meaningful time in-house or in a commercial legal function serving a commercial organisation.
  • •Genuine UK data protection and GDPR expertise, including advising on what is and isn’t permissible for product processing sensitive data at scale.
  • •Proven leadership experience as a senior lawyer ready to own a function, including hiring decisions, team health, and process design.
  • •Strong commercial instincts to move deals while balancing risk management and commercial velocity.
  • •Legal tech and operations literacy, including CLM systems and AI-assisted drafting/redlining for a lean legal team.
