Job Summary

Advise on consumer and commercial lending regulatory requirements for Block’s products, including Regulation Z, Regulation B, and fair lending. Serve as a subject matter expert on state and federal lending laws and bank partnership arrangements, leading resolution of complex, cross-functional regulatory and partner issues. Translate evolving rule impacts into clear guidance for senior business, product, compliance, and bank partner stakeholders, supporting product development from concept through launch.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide legal and regulatory advice on lending regulations for Block’s products and business partners, including Reg Z, Reg B, fair lending, and state lending licensing requirements.
•Advise as a subject matter expert on consumer and commercial lending regulations, bank partnership arrangements, and model risk management.
•Lead resolution of complex, cross-functional regulatory and bank partnership issues using independent judgment on risk and escalation paths.
•Advise senior stakeholders by translating legal and regulatory risk into clear, actionable guidance.
•Summarize and analyze the impact of new and evolving rules, and provide legal support for emerging and novel consumer financial products through launch.

Key Requirements

•8+ years advising on lending regulations in a law firm, financial services regulatory agency, bank partnership role, or in-house legal team.
•Substantive experience with lending and bank partnership issues/relationships.
•Ability to independently lead complex legal and regulatory issues to resolution.
•Experience engaging directly with senior stakeholders across legal, compliance, product, and business teams.
•JD with active membership and good standing with the Bar of a resident state and/or the California Bar or New York Bar.
