Job Summary

Lead geotechnical engineering efforts for transportation, power, property/buildings, and mining projects based in Tempe. Provide guidance and support across subsurface investigation programs, engineering design, construction support, and geohazard monitoring. Collect, analyze, and present site data using GIS and geotechnical tools, apply rock/soil mechanics and stability methods, and ensure QA/QC, documentation quality, and safety practices while coordinating with regulators, clients, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

•Collect, compile, and analyze geotechnical site data (soil/rock samples, surveys, GIS, subsurface information, maps) to support project development, design, and construction.
•Maintain quality control standards for measurements, engineering analyses, and geotechnical reporting and documentation.
•Perform professional geotechnical engineering work for site conditions, including subsurface investigations, foundation engineering, settlement analysis, erosion and geologic hazards, groundwater, and slope stability for permitting and project compliance.
•Apply advanced modeling and develop design requirements and strategies for safety, functionality, and future-ready solutions across transportation systems and structures.
•Direct technical work and provide guidance to junior staff; support site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) and coordinate with regulators, subcontractors, and clients.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
•Minimum 7 years of relevant post-education engineering experience with geotechnical design.
•Professional Engineer license in Arizona, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
•Technical knowledge of geotechnical engineering including foundations, slope stability, earthquake engineering, retaining walls, earth retention, rock mechanics, settlement, ground improvement, and permitting-related issues.
•Experience with infrastructure planning/design and construction management, including rehabilitation and new design.
